Assign AI (01) to identify the Global Trade Item Number (GTIN). The solution using AI (01) and the GTIN, represented in the GS1-128 (UCC/EAN-128) Symbology, does not replace the standards for marking non-retail trade items with an EAN-13, UPC-A Bar Code Symbol. It is provided as an alternative solution for specific applications.
Use a GTIN-8, GTIN-12 (UPC-A) or a GTIN-13 (EAN-13) or a GTIN-14.
- If you use a GTIN-8 you will need to fill in six zero at the start of the GTIN, as the total number of digits should be 13, don't fill in the check sum of the GTIN-8, the 14th digit is the check sum and add automatically.
- If you use a GTIN-12 (UPC-A) then you will have to fill in two zeros at the start of the GTIN, as the total number of digits should be 13, don't fill in the check sum for the GTIN-12 (UPC-A), the 14th digit is the check sum and added automatically.
- If you use a GTIN-13 (EAN-13) you will need to fill in one zero at the start of the GTIN, as the total number of digits should be 13, don't fill in the check sum of the GTIN-13 (EAN-13), the 14th digit is the check sum and add automatically.
- If you use a GTIN-14 fill in the GTIN-14, a total of 14 digits.
