When saving a barcode in the PNG (Portable Network Graphics) *.png file format you will be able to select (click to check the option) Transparent background or Transparent Bars. You must select one of the options before saving the file. When both Transparent Background and Transparent Bars are unchecked a none transparent barcode will be saved.
Click on the Transparent Background to be able to save the barcode with a transparent background. In the above image you can see that the Transparent Background have been checked, so it will be used while saving a *.png file. If the option Transparent Background is unchecked then the option will not be used.

Click on the Transparent Bars to be able to save the barcode with transparent bars. In the above image you can see that the Transparent Bars have been checked, so it will be used while saving a *.png file. If the option Transparent Bars is unchecked then the option will not be used.
The above image have been saved with Transparent Bars, as shown in Adobe Photoshop. I have colored the background black so that it will be easier to see the transparent bars. Please note that a black background may not be the best color for the barcode.
