How to make a EAN-13 barcode

I will show you how to make a EAN-13 barcode. All settings is set to 100% size e.g. Default setting in Barcode Image Maker Pro.

First select the barcode you would like to use, click on the Select Barcode and move down to the EAN-13.

Input for the EAN-13.

When you have selected the EAN-13, then fill in the Product information (optional) and most importantly fill in the barcode characters in the Barcode text box. As it's a EAN-13 you will need to fill in 12 digits and Barcode Image Maker Pro. will add the last digit (13th digit) as it's the checksum (check digit). Now that all the information have been added, all we have to do is to click on the Add to List button to add it to the Barcode List.

The input have been added to the Barcode List.

Added the EAN-13 information to the Barcode List . You could just select it or better check the Product and save it.

The EAN-13 barcode shows in the Barcode area.

If the barcode have been made correctly an image will show in the Barcode area.

The EAN-13 has a pre-defined Rec.size of 80% to 200% (100% is default) and it can be selected using

We use 1200 dpi for the EAN-13

We will save the EAN-13 barcode in 1200 dpi and you will need to click on the User Setting and then fill in 1200 in Width x Height. If you would like to use the same resolution as your printer, then please click on the Use Printer Resolution, please note that that not all printer drivers support this function, so if you get no resolution information or none digit input then please do NOT use it, use User Setting. Most settings for the barcode can be set manually.

Lets save the EAN-13. Click on Save as.

Now we need to save the EAN-13 barcode as a image file. Click on the Save as in the the File menu. You could also just click on this icon in the Toolbar (icon bar). If the Save as is disabled / grayed out, the you have not added the barcode information to the Barcode List, start at the top of this "How to..." file.

This is how the Save as looks in Windows Vista.

Select the file format you would like to save the barcode in. I have selected TIFF (*.tif) in the Save as type:. Fill in the File name: for the EAN-13, I have filled in My EAN13 Barcode, click on the Save button to save the EAN-13 barcode as a high resolution TIFF. It will take a second or two and the EAN-13 have been saved as a 1200 dpi TIFF barcode image. The TIFF image format supports EXIF tags.

When the EAN-13 barcode image have been saved to a folder.

When using Barcode Image Maker Pro. you do not need to open the folder yourself, just click on the File menu and then click on Open Folder saved to. and the folder will open in windows and show the file you saved, shown in the picture below. Fast and easy.

This is NOT the full size of the image or true view as the barcode has no Top Margin. This is how it looks in Windows Vista.

Above you will be able to see the EAN-13 barcode you have just saved as a TIFF file, double click the file you have just save to view it. You will be able to save more than one Product/Item at the time, by adding more products/items before you save, more information here. You would also be able to view the barcode image in the Image TAB.
