The input for the ISMN is very flexible all you have to fill in is at least 8 digits, that's the Publisher Element+Item Element.

This is the parts of the ISMN.

The first 6 characters are the Prefix element and it's always 979-0-. The next 3 to 6 digits are the Publisher Element and the following 2 to 5 digits are the Item Element. The last digit (13th digit) is the check sum (check digit).
