Resolution (dpi) is a part of the Panel in the Main window.
This is how Resolution (Dpi) looks when using 1200 dpi.
In the Resolution (Dpi) area you can choose between:
As default, 300 dpi will be used, if you do NOT fill in anything.
User Setting You will be able to fill in the Width x Height dpi you would like to use when saving the barcode image. 72 dpi to 4800 dpi. Please note that in some cases you will not be able to save the barcode in 4800 dpi due to size and/or limited windows resources (memory). Dpi (Dot Per Inch). The default resolution is 300 dpi.
Use Printer Resolution The resolution for your printer will be used. The information is collected from your printer drivers. Sometimes the drivers doesn't contain the information and will show nothing or irrelevant information, in that case read the manual for your printer and use User Settings.
72 dpi Will use 72 dpi when you save the barcode image.
Screen Resolution (96 dpi) In 99% the Screen Resolution is 96 dpi and the barcode image will be saved at 96 dpi when saved.
One Pixel is x.xx Mils Here you can see the size of one pixel in Mils for the resolution. 1 Mils is 1/1000 Inch or 0.0254 mm
One Pixel is x.xxxx In Shows the size of one pixel in Inches.
One Pixel is x.xxxxx mm Shows the size of one pixel in Millimeters.
10 Mils (Pixels) Shows how many pixels used for 10 Mils. In this case 12.00 Pixels. It's recommended to use no less than 2 pixels or more.
10 Mils (Inches) Shows how many Inches used for 10 Mils. In this case 0.01 In.
10 Mils (Millimeters) Shows how many millimeters used for 10 Mils. In this case 0.254 mm
If you would like to use 20 Mils for your barcode, it would be easy to calculate as you already know how many Inches / Millimeters that's used for 10 Mils and to fill it in the Bar Width (X-Dimension), Please note that the Bar Width (X-Dimension) is the width for ONE bar in the barcode. The most important is that you do not have any decimal pixels e.g. none full pixels. If your printer has a odd Dpi, like 274 or 360, 720, 1440 dpi, then please read this.
If you save a 1200 dpi and then open it into a software product where the canvas have been set to 96 dpi, the barcode will be 12.5 times the size and this isn't a problem / error in Barcode Image Maker Pro., but an error when opening the file into the program you use. If you want to use a 1200 dpi barcode image then please make sure you have set the dpi for the canvas to the same dpi as the barcode image you want to use. In this case 1200 dpi. Look here.
Encapsulated PostScript (*.eps) and Enhanced MetaFiles (*.emf) vector image doesn't support Resolution (dpi) as they are a calculation of points and not a bitmap / pixel based image.
Start Adobe Photoshop, click on the File menu and then click on New, a dialog window shows, in resolution fill in 1200 pixels/inch. Open the barcode image and now the canvas and the barcode have the same resolution (1200 dpi), so if I copy the barcode image in to the canvas it will be 1:1 Look here.
