Transparent barcode background
Check the Transparent barcode background to have a transparent barcode background when printing on labels.
The above image would be great for the barcode with a transparent background.
Picture is by Suat Eman (Green Beans) available at www.freedigitalphotos.net
The image above is not a good choice as it contains dark colors behind the transparent background of the barcode and will make it difficult to scan. The light blue color is not a problem, so adding additional right margin in the light blue color would be the way to go. Image above have been stretched, e.g. Keep Image Ratio have been unchecked.
Picture is by Suat Eman (Green Beans) available at www.freedigitalphotos.net and extended by me.
The above uses a transparent background for the barcode and the light blue background have been extended and the barcode will scan. Image above have been stretched, e.g. Keep Image Ratio have been unchecked.
Uncheck the Transparent barcode background to have a None transparent barcode background when printing on labels.

“The most suitable and reliable colour combination is black bars on a white background. However, as a general rule, the background of the barcode symbol can be a light, warm colour that does not contain any black (such as yellow or light orange), and the bar colour can be a dark, cool colour that has no, or low, red content (such as dark blue or dark green). It is also a recommendation to avoid high gloss inks as this can cause problems with the reflectance values.”
If you use Free Text to have more than one line of text above or below the barcode, the barcode will be adjusted if the hight of the barcode included the Free Text is taller than the label. The barcode may no longer be the GS1 Recommended height when 'Adjust barcode Height, if barcode is taller than label have been selected'. More information about additional text on the barcode.
Using the UPS Zebra/Elton drivers made by UPS should make it possible to print the barcode labels made by the software on a Zebra printer. Download and install instructions at UPS. Thanks to Vicky for the information. Please make sure it works with your Zebra printer.
