The ISBN is used for books in retail around the world. The ISBN has one Checksum (Check Digit), it's the 13th digit and it's added automatically. The ISBN also supports the Light Margin Indicator, it's the > at the end of the barcode. The ISBN starts with 978 and in the future also 979.

Price tag

The additional 5 digits are used as the price tag for the book. All you have to do is to right click in the 5 digit supplement input and you will be able to select one of the options.

If you have a book and the price is USD $55.99, you will need to fill in 55599 in the 5 digit supplement, the first digit in this case is 5 for USD.

The different parts of the ISBN.

The first 3 digits are the Prefix element, 978 or 979 can be used. The following digit(s) are the Registration group element and can contain 1 to 5 digits. The next digits (up to 7 digits) are the Registrant element and the next digits (up to 6 digits) are the Publication element and the last digit (1 digit) is the Checksum (Check digit).

ISBN Database.

Included is a database that will make it possible to format the ISBN barcode, all you need to do is to fill in the Registration group element and the Registrant element and the Publication element for the ISBN and the input will be convert to a ISBN.

GS1 Recommended size

For the ISBN you can use one of the pre-defined sizes 80% to 200%.

For the Retail barcodes, you will be able to set the width and height from 80% to 200%, e.g. from X-dim from 0.264 mm (0.0104 In.), and 200% is 0.66 mm (0.0259 In.) and height of the bar, from 18.28 mm (0.719 In) to 45.7mm (1.799 In)
