Barcode image file format that can be used:

Encapsulated PostScript (*.eps)
Enhanced MetaFile (*.emf)
JPEG (*.jpg)
PNG (*.png)
TIFF (*.tif)
Windows Bitmap file (*.bmp)

*.eps and *.emf are vector formats, others are bitmap formats. The barcode image was made using the barcode software, Barcode Image Maker Pro. download the barcode software.

Linking barcode images in MS Publisher.

First we need to save some barcode images, I will be using the Enhanced MetaFile (*.emf) vector barcode.

I used the sequential barcoding feature in the barcode software and made some Code 39, B01 to B25. The I Exported the Barcode List so that it included the barcode image path. The barcode path is saved in a MS Excel spreadsheet.

If you already have a MS Excel spreadsheet you would like to use, then all you have to do is to copy the Image_Path and paste it into your MS Excel spreadsheet as I did, please look at the image below.

Link the barcode image in MS Publisher

When linking to the design you have made in MS Publisher, click on the Tool menu and then go to Mailings and Catalogs, click on Mail Merge. Follow the guide in MS Publisher 2007. Drag and Drop to link to the data. Please note that you will need to use the <<Barcode Path>> as a image, the guide in MS Publisher 2007 will help you.

The last character shown in the Code 39 barcode is the checksum, check digit, it can be removed if needed.
